BAYELSA PUBLIC INFORMATION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE VISITS DAAR COMMUNICATION; BUILDS SYNERGY

In fulfillment of her mandate and ensure free flow of information, the Bayelsa Public Information Management Committee paid a courtesy visit on DAAR Communication, ostensibly as part of efforts to build synergies with both public and private sector organizations in the State.
The Committee was led by its Committee Chief Boma Spero-Jack and the Vice Chairperson Lady Gesiere Brisibe-Dorgu. Other members include the Secretary Comrades John Idumange, Vienna Imoukhuede, Tarinyo Akono and Benson Ekio.
The Chairman of the Committee commended AIT and RayPower for partnering with the State Government in publishing, promoting and projecting the policies and programmes of the Dickson Administration. According to him, since the Committee was inaugurated by His Excellency, Hon. Seriake Dickson Governor of Bayelsa State, the Committee has operated an open-door policy, holding interactive sessions, radio and Television discussion programmes, and Town Hall meetings with stakeholders. This is to unsure a bottom-up approach to information management. He added that the Committee does not muzzle free speech or gag the press but rather to more windows of open of opportunity for free, frank and accurate discussion on how to move the State forward. Chief Spero-Jack buttresses the fact that the Committee is in the Strategic interest of all stakeholders, reiterating that the Dickson administration has made commendable progress in investment in security, education, transportation, tourism development and infrastructural development.
The Chairman however advised that people should verify information with the Committee so that any piece of information going out of government is authentic, timely, adequate and credible. He concluded that the Restoration Agenda is on course.
Responding, the General Manager Mr. Barri Pereomongu of DAAR Communication said since the inception of the Restoration administration, AIT and Ray Power, have been playing an invaluable role in disseminating information and promoting the plans and programmes of government. The General Manager pointed out that for the past one year, there is visible transformation going on in every department of live. He advocated a return of the values of handwork, respect and humility for which the Ijaw man is known. It was our best interest to partner with the Committee to ensure that the goals of the Restoration Government are achieved through information dissemination, adding that the Committee is made up of men and women of integrity and professional Groups – which further reaffirms the vision of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson.
